Wealth

There are two kinds of wealth: financial wealth, and spiritual wealth. Financial wealth is money. Spiritual wealth is a good feeling on the inside.

Total financial wealth remains unchanged, yet spiritual wealth has no limit.

Suppose there is a town with a total population of exactly one hundred. Of those hundred, ninety-nine are poor, living paycheck to paycheck. They don't have any money saved. The other person is a rich lady with over $55 million in spare cash. Out of the goodness of her heart, she gives each of the ninety-nine poor people ten thousand dollars during the Christmas holidays.

Let's look at what took place financially. The total value of all cash in the town before she gave to the ninety-nine people was $55,000,000. After she gave to the ninety-nine people it was $55,000,000. As you can see, no difference.

Though the combined financial wealth of all one hundred residents remained unchanged, the total spiritual wealth has soared. The ninety-nine people abound with joy because of all the extra money they received and the rich woman's generosity. The rich woman abounds with joy because she was able to cause so much happiness.

Money comes and goes, but spiritual wealth is permanently etched in the heavens. Spiritual wealth is the main thing. Financial wealth is the tool that triggers it. Money has value when it is moving around.

Money in movement is far more powerful than in one place.

Even though the stock market is risky, it is a good example of money in circulation. People buy stock, people sell stock. There are buyers and sellers. It is a tremendous environment for spiritual invigoration. It may not have the love of charity, but nonetheless, the stock market invigorates the spirit.

When money is being circulated, energy is created. Money is far more powerful when in circulation than sitting in one place.

Look at the activity of a street fair. Money is being changed, goods are being sold. There is movement. If each and every person were to grow their own food and make their own products in their own individual isolation, it would be far less spiritually invigorating.

Any kind of market -- whether it be a stock market, a street fair, a flea market, or a supermarket -- provides the opportunity for spiritual invigoration. People cannot resist.

Even institutions of gambling -- casinos, card games, lotteries, raffles -- are invigorating because of the rapid movement of financial wealth. It is always the movement of money that draws in people. But the thing that they really seek is the spiritual invigoration.

In the example of the rich woman who gave $10,000 to each of the poor people in the town, spiritual invigoration was the motive and reward. She didn't do it to be "righteous" or to have something to boast about, or in order to be 'saved' (we are 'saved' anyway, no matter what). She did it for sheer spiritual invigoration.

The most important thing is always forgiveness.

Spiritual invigoration is what keeps us all going. Still, the foundation for any kind of spiritual good-feeling is having a heart of forgiveness. Keep your slate clean. Forgive anybody who has wronged you. Forgive yourself for whatever faults you have made. Forgive anybody or anything you have objections to. Your forgiveness will make you free. And in freedom, you can do anything.
