Forgiveness

If you need to focus on just one thing, let it be forgiveness, because all other things will fall into place. Before you do anything, forgive. You are better off sitting in your room, spending time forgiving everyone, than doing charitable work with strife in your heart. Forgiveness is the most important work.

Make up your mind to forgive those who treat you badly. If you are worried about an upcoming situation where you anticipate being mistreated, forgive in advance. Forgive the past, forgive the present, forgive the future. Train yourself to immediately forgive all things, even the little things which agitate you. Forgive unconditionally; leave it; let it go. Forgiveness is the most productive work there is.

Forgiveness allows great power to come into your life.

Consider the game backgammon. Rolling double sixes on the dice is a great power, enabling you to advance your pieces a total of twenty-four spaces. However, if two of your men are in the captured area, and the sixth column is blocked by your opponent's men, all the double sixes in the world won't amount to anything. Likewise, if you have unforgiveness in your heart, all the great power in the Universe won't amount to anything for you. Forgiveness frees you, enabling you to receive unlimited power.

It's better to forgive your mistakes than to not make any mistakes at all.

We all make many mistakes. But the only mistake that is unforgivable is unforgiveness. And conversely, the greatest deed of all great deeds is forgiveness. Take two baseball players. One bats 400 and the other only 100. The player who bats 400 criticizes himself for every little mistake. The player who bats 100 forgives himself and continues to enjoy the game. The player batting 100 has behaved more perfect than the one batting 400. Forgiveness is perfection, not high batting averages.

Another example. You left the house this morning, forgetting -- for the third time this week -- to take out the garbage; and you forgive yourself each time. Your neighbor, on the other hand, forgot to take the garbage out just one time in the past month, and he is questioning his validity as a functioning human being. In this example, you are more justified than your neighbor. Nothing liberates and justifies like forgiveness.

Forgiveness is free.

Do not sit around and think to yourself "I blew it." Condemnation is all too powerful in this world. But fortunately, we have a higher Authority. This Authority grants forgiveness for free. All you have to do is receive it. To the earthly mind, that sounds too good to be true. But it is true. Forgiveness is not to be earned, it is to be freely received.

Life is a gift. Everything you have is a free gift. You did not earn it. You were put on this earth to freely receive. This life is not a system of working for rewards. It is a system of freely receiving. It is a system of gifts. Stop worrying and struggling. Accept the free gift of forgiveness.

Forgiveness begins now.

Free yourself. It is your job to be free. And the only way to be free is to forgive as much as you can. The best time to start forgiving is right now.

"But where do I start? Should I forgive myself first? Or should I forgive others first? Should I forgive the big things first? Or should I forgive the little things first?"

Start ANYWHERE. When an earthquake hits a city, reducing it to rubble, rescue workers don't stand around pondering where to start. They dive right in and start right where they are. Ever had to clean up a room that was so messy you didn't know where to start? You realized a truth from those experiences: it doesn't matter where you start, as long as you start. Dive right in. Get moving. The answers will come to you as you work.

Forgiveness causes freedom.

Forgiveness is NOT a waste of time. Forgiveness is the most profitable work. Forgiveness causes freedom. When you are free, you can do anything. When you are free, you will feel alive like a little child. Being free is not selfish. Because when you are free, you emit positive energy into the Universe, which benefits others.

We are all on this earth for a certain amount of time. We are given a life, a gift. Make the most of it. Be as free as you can. Train yourself to forgive quickly. Forgive faster and faster. Forgive instantly. It's always worth the effort. Freedom is worth more than anything in the world. Freedom is the kingdom of heaven. Freedom is abundant life.
